The day’s festivities will include a 5K run/walk followed by entertainment, food, and more
CANTON, MISSISSIPPI, MAY 20, 2018 - The Canton Juneteenth 5K run/walk has been announced. Runners will get started at 7:30am on Saturday June 16, 2018, and after they’re done, there will be food, live music, and fun for the entire family.
Runners will begin in the historic Hickory Street District, and they’ll wind their way through famous Canton areas taking them by Mt. Zion Baptist Church; the Freedom House, where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and other civil right activists gathered; Canton Square; and the location where “My Dog Skip” was filmed.
The last leg of the run will bring participants back to Hickory Street.
Along Hickory Street, guests will find a kid zone, live music, a health fair, community forums, food, and much more.
Registration for the Canton Juneteenth 5K Run/Walk is now open for $25 per person or $100 per team of 5 people. There will also be a 1-Mile Fun Walk, and registration for that event is $15. Proceeds from the events will benefit Our Daily Bread Ministries.
